I have done a lot of business with the active adult retirement communities in greater Tucson, particularly SaddleBrooke, Sunflower, Sun City, Heritage Highlands at Dove Mountain, and several others.

I know the differences between them, as each one has its own characteristics.

Some are very "active" while some are not.

Ammenities also vary considerably -- some have golf, tennis, swimming, and unlimited social events, while others do not.

Dues can also vary significantly, as do home prices (I love to negotiate!)

Of importance may be the proximity to major hospitals. For example, the greater Green Valley area does not have a major hospital, although there are several fine clinics.
